The experience of using nozeylin in otorhinolaryngology
- On 21 November 2017
Over the last ten years a lot of research study reports suggest that acute rhinosinusitis is one of the most prevalent disease, that cause serious complications in human body. The most common disorders of the nose and accessory air sinuses are viral in origin, but often they are complicated by superimposed bacterial infections having considerably greater significance. During the initial acute stages, the nasal mucosa is thickened, edematous and red, these changes may extend and producing impairment of drainage and congestion of the sinus, Eustachian tube and eardrum. All these changes are the important contributor to the process of the acute otitis media, sinusitis and inflammation of Eustachian tube.
Normal function of nasal mucosa depends on the cilliary cells activity. Destruction of the cells causes impairment drainage of mucus secretion and development of mentioned problems.
The problem of allergic rhinitis treatment still remains unresolved. There is a tendency to increase these allergies during the last years. This may be due to increased pollution of the environment (increase in automobile number, decrease in green plants, and intensive building construction, dense residential areas, etc.), increased smoking and other factors and all these may be complicated and may lead to bronchial asthma.
According to WHO allergic diseases will be the second most prevalent health problem in the XXI century, there is tendency to severing of the course of the disease. With the deteriorated immune system allergic diseases may be complicated with superimposed bacterial diseases, which deepen the problem.
Because of all the mentioned problems it is important to treat rhinitis adequately and timely, despite of any cause.
Combination of antihistamines and topical decongestants are a common first line treatment of allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis. These combination has rapid onset and the best results.
A wide variety of nasal drops and sprays exist, but in spite of this Nozeylin is one of the best in the treatment and prophylaxis of these diseases. It contains Naphazoline hydrochloride, Clorpheniramin maleat and accessory substance: Boric acid, Sodium citrate, etc.
Naphazoline hydrochloride is an agonist of α2-adrenergic receptors (a sympathomimetic). It causes abrupt and long acting vasoconstriction by stimulating α2-receptors in the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. Nozeylin reduces swelling of mucous membranes, relives nasal congestion, and thus restores drainage of accessory nasal sinuses, Eustachian tube and aeration of eardrum. Augments nasal potency.
Clorpheniramin maleat is an antihistamine that blocks one type of receptors for histamine. It has antiallergic action and relieves allergic symptoms (itching, sneezing, watery eyes and runny nose).
These are the mentioned abilities of Nozeylin, which gives great advantage over other nasal drop and spray preparations. Combination of antiallergic, vascular contracting and antihistaminic characteristics is unique for Nozeylin nowadays.
Nozeylin usage in our practice showed us that simultaneous action of vascular contracting and antihistaminic agents causes rapid relive of congestion in nasal mucosa, accessory nasal sinuses, Eustachian tube and restoration of auditory tube function, without combination another drugs.
Accessory substances with in Nozeylin add antiseptic function of this medicine and protect mucous membranes from dehydration; which is the common effect of other vasoconstriction agents.
